Nothing is known of the ancestry of Louisa Smith. The 1850 Census shows her as 29 years old, the 1860 Census as 38 years old, and the 1880 Census as 58 years, old, with her birthplace given as Maine in all three.[1][2][3] Based on her age at her death from her gravestone, she was born about 31 Jan 1822.[4]
Marriage
Louisa Smith and John Casey, both of Livermore, Maine, married at Hartford, Maine, on 11 Aug 1839.[5]
A gravestone at the Lakeside Cemetery in Livermore, gives the death date of Louisa (Smith) Casey as 24 Dec 1893 and her age at her death as 70 years, 10 months, 25 days.[4] The date show on the gravestone is off by one year; a notice of her death from her widow's pension file is dated 18 Apr 1893 and says that she died on 24 Dec 1892.[6]
