Biography
- James was the oldest of six children of Eleazor and Ruth (Davis) Smith.
- His parents and their first five children migrated from Rowan County, NC in 1816. In Cynthiana, Ky their sixth child was born on 4 Oct 1816. They arrived in Wayne Co, IN by 1818 where they settled on a farm on Greens Fork north of Williamsburg.
