Mark Smith Sr continuously lived in Perry Co once he arrived in Alabama. Differentiation with his namesake son is shown by the son being noted as "of Greene County" when he acquired land in 1835 and his father being noted as "Mark Smith senior of Perry Co" on his 1837 land acquisition. To acquire land in 1835 the son would have to have been born in 1816 or earlier,
Disambiguation
Because of geographical distance from the Perry and Hale counties where Mark's extended family resided, Mark was most likely not the Mark Smith, possibly the son of Jeremiah Smith, who married Mary Tidmore in 1842 in Calhoun Co, AL, lived in Cherokee Co, AL in 1850, and later died in neighboring Etowah Co, AL. The FAG data is therefore incorrect.
