Biography

David Smith is a part of US Black heritage.

David was enslaved by James Webb Smith in Jackson County, Tennessee.

James wrote his will on 20 February 1854 and died on 22 May 1856. He named 71 enslaved people, including David who was given to his brother Thomas Smith "for the use and benefit of James Webb Smith and Hugh Brown Smith" who were the grandsons of James.
