Ann Smith (1753-?) was the daughter of Robert Smith of Greenwich.
On 27 December 1773 Inglefield had married Ann, daughter of Robert Smith of Greenwich; they had several children. The couple separated in late 1784 after Inglefield accused his wife of an adulterous relationship with their black servant. The case came before the ecclesiastical court in July 1785, Mrs Inglefield seeking to defend her reputation, and was followed by a summary of proceedings on her behalf (Mrs Inglefield's Justification, 1787), to which John Inglefield responded with Captain Inglefield's Vindication of his Conduct and New Annals of Gallantry, containing a complete collection of the genuine letters which have passed between Captain Inglefield and Mrs Inglefield (both 1787).
