Biography
John Rowland Smyth was born in 1803. He was the fifth son of Grice Smyth of Ballynatray, County Waterford, and Mary Brodrick Mitchell.
He married Hon Catherine Alice Abbott, daughter of Charles Abbott, 1st Lord Tenterden.
They had one daughter:
- Penelope Mary Gertrude Smyth m Charles Stuart Aubrey Abbott, 3rd Lord Tenterden
He was a General in the Army and Colonel of the 6th Dragoon Guards.
Sir John Rowland Smyth died on 14 May 1873 in Kensington, London.[1]
