It was compiled from records of the proceedings "At a Court held for Caroline County on Thursday 11 July 1782 continued by several adjournments till Thursday 12 Sept. 1782. The Court proceeded to examine the claims for horses provision &c furnished the Army, Oct. 1780-Aug. 1782." Repository: #R191 Call Number: n/a Page 24 Certainty: 3 Page 24: Sneed, Mary assne of Wm. Daniel 180# beef [pounds sterling]1-17-6. Note: This entry is confusing. William Daniel's wife (or at least one of his wives) was Mary, nee Sneed (RIN #314). However, his child by that marriage, Benjamin Daniel (RIN #311), was born 17 Oct 1769. Unless Benjamin was an illegitimate child who was acknowledged by William Daniel, William and Mary must have been married prior to 1769 and other documents show that they were married 6 Apr 1764. This being the case, the entry naming Mary Sneed must refer to another Mary Sneed, not William's wife. It is possibly her mother, but evidence for that has not yet been found.
