Jennie Snook was born in Oregon, the daughter of James (Emmanuel) and Sarah (Neasham) Snook. She was brought to Newton by her parents when still an infant. Her home had been in Newton all her life. She had 4 siblings. - Grace, Earl, Fred, and Hazel.
She attended Jasper county schools. She married Leonard Rexroat in Newton on Jan. 25, 1922. [1][2] She had 10 children - Colleen, Mary, Leslie, Robert, Doris, Carold, Shirley, Harry, Jennie, and Irene.[3] She passed away in 1956.[4]

Her name appears as E Jane "Jennie" Snook Rexroat on Find a Grave, but according to her daughter Doris, she always went by the name Jennie, the E is believed to stand for Emma.

"MRS. REXROAT DIES IN CALIFORNIA
Mrs. Jennie Rexroat, 55, a Newton resident, died Sunday at Mission San Jose, Calif., where she had been a guest of her daughter, Mrs. James Thompson.
Arrangements by the Johnson Funeral home are pending.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard; two sons, Leslie in the Navy in California, and Robert in New York City; three daughters, Mrs. Oren (Coleen)Thompson of Newton, Mrs. James Thompson of Mission San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Chester Hadden of Pueblo, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Summer of Newton; a brother, Earl Snook of Newton, and 15 grandchildren.
