REEDS, Mo. - Rex Elgan Snyder, 84, of Reeds, Mo., died at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2002. Mr. Snyder was born July 8, 1917 in Jasper County to Ira E. and Lena (Markley) Snyder. He was a retired auto mechanic, moving from California to Jasper County in 1973. He was a member of Center Point Christian Church and was a lifetime member of Crossroads S.W Chapter #41 of the Disabled American Veterans. He was a veteran of World War II.. He married Callie Swafford who survives. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Burleson of Williams, Calif., Sara Harrison of Medina, Wash., and Lucille Penning of Gridley, Calif.; four brothers Glenn Snyder of Hesperia, Calif., Harold Snyder of Williams, Ca., Russell Snyder of Carthage, and Levi Snyder of Reeds, Mo.; five sisters, Vesta Ziler, Alice Bowers and Barbara Smith all of Carthage, Betty Tatum of Ozark, Mo. and Edith Willard of Reeds; 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Also two stepdaughters, Charlotte Posey of California and Delores Boatmen of Nevada. He was preceded in death by a son, Stephen, and a brother, Herbert.. Services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, March 16, 2002, at Center Point Christian Church. Burial will be at Fasken Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Center Point Christian Church Building Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
