Goals
This is a One Name Study to collect together in one place everything about the Bulley surname and the variants of that name, with a focus on Bully, Bewley, and Bullen. The hope is that other researchers like you will join our study to help make it a valuable reference point for people studying lines that cross or intersect.

Meaning and Origin
The Bulley surname is English in origin and is described in the Dictionary of American Family Surnames, as follows:
- Norman habitational name from any of several places in northern France called Bouillé or Bully, from a Gaulish personal name of uncertain form and meaning + the locative suffix -acum.
- Habitational name from Bulleigh in Devon or Bulley in Gloucestershire, both named with Old English bula 'bull' + lēah 'woodland clearing'.

- Adopt all orphaned Bulley & Bully profiles.
- Create profiles for all Bulley's who have a Wikipedia page and add to the project's Notables list.
- Build out Bully family of Elizabeth City County (now Hampton), Virginia. (Complete for now; Will need to revisit once Family History Centers are re-opened.)
