About the Project

The Case Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Case name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Case name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Case's), by time period (18th Century Case's), or by topic (Case DNA, Case Occupations, Case Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Also see the related surnames and surname variants.

As a standard of Case research we have decided to disallow any citations from secondary sources such as Find A Grave, RootsWeb, Ancestry Member Trees, Geneanet Community Trees and FamilySearch and other similar website. The reason for this is the ease at which details with no factual merit can be added and repeated.

We encourage the use of these sites to find the root document that they base their information on and to see the original form of that information. That primary level documentation is the standard for the Case Family One Name Study.

Example: Ancestry Member Tree has birth date information and cites "Little Compton Families, Vol 1., Page 1234". Please go to "Little Compton Families", verify the information and then use that citation in the Wikitree profile. Please add the citation with the C button at the top of the Edit Text box.

Hello George. Looks like you're off to a great start on the ONS for Case! Thank you for all your hard work. It's very impressive. I'm Kelly Sullivan, granddaughter to Lucy Case. Our first DNA match is with James Buchannon Case (1876 - 1943). He was a real character. He and my Grandma Gertie lived in Hanna Wyoming. He was a farmer, coal miner, and heavy drinker. You must read this profile James Case, it's very interesting. I had a hand in setting his military headstone last year.

My tree study was focused on the Woolseys George Woolsey for many years. I only recently found the relatives on the Case tree that are also from England. Anyway, that's my intro and I hope to help grow the Name Study. I did see two prominent Case members of note, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leonard_Case_Jr. and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Case . Leonard Jr. is the grandson of Meshach Case (1752 - 1841). Anyway, hope to help by adding tags wherever possible. Again, thank you so much. Your 10th cousin, Kelly.
