Franklin

The historic Franklin District was a New Zealand territorial authority that lay between the Auckland metropolitan area and the Waikato Plains. Administration of the Franklin District was from the town of Pukekohe.

In 2010, the territory of Franklin District was divided between Auckland Council and the Auckland Region.

The part of Franklin now administered by Auckland Council (Franklin Ward) includes the rural areas of the old Manukau City -

That part of Franklin District administered by Auckland Region is now a Local Board area bounded by the eastern coast of the Hauraki Gulf and the western coast of the Manukau Harbour.
