- Abstract:
- James Grear of Gunpowder River, Baltimore County, Maryland, immigrated to America in 1675. He married Ann Taylor, daughter of Arthur Taylor (1648-1692), and was granted land by Arthur Taylor in 1687. They had a son, John Greer, born on the Gunpowder River, Baltimore County, ca. 1688. James died at an early age and his widow married two more times. John Greer and his wife, Sarah, had nine children, ca. 1709-ca. 1729. Descendants listed, chiefly descendants of their son, William Greer (b. ca. 1710) lived in Maryland, Virginia, Indiana, Georgia, Tennessee, and elsewhere.
