This research project is an attempt to consolidate sourced information about early Connecticut men in one place so that conflicts can be resolved (to the extent possible). John Lewis (bef.1606-aft.1669)

This John, born in Kent England, emigrated to America on the Ship Hercules in 1634. Much information about him is disputed. It is now generally accepted that he had no male grandchildren who carried the Lewis surname.

John Lewis (1610-1667)

Birthplace is unknown; deathplace is reported as Roxbury, Massachusetts. John is believed to have had at least one son, Peter Lewis (1644-bef.1716) - born in Roxbury MA and died in Rockingham Co, NH. If any male Lewis believes they descend from this John, please provide a link to tree and any Y-DNA test information.

John Lewis (abt.1613-1657)

Born in England, (very roughly) about 1613. He migrated by about 1634 to Charlestown MA and settled in Malden MA. Married first to Margaret/Marguerite (about six kids) then Mary Brown (about six more kids).

Y-DNA: two ninth cousins are believed to descend from John: kit# 968185 and kit# B361553. Descendants of this John are expected to test as a Y-DNA subclade of R-BY64468.
