Penelope (Lentz) Wolfe
My maternal grandmother, Amelia (aka Emily) Margareta Kavalas Rott. As an independent, single woman Kavalas traveled from Baku, Azerbaijan to the U.S. in 1910. She had been living with her sister in Baku after the death of her Lithuanian father, Jonas Kavalas, in Riga, Latvia. She met my grandfather, Charles Joseph Rott, at a photographer's convention.
