About the Project

The Pennington Name Study project serves as a collaborative platform to collect information on the Pennington name. The hope is that other researchers like you will join the study to help make it a valuable reference point for other genealogists who are researching or have an interest in the Pennington name.

As a One Name Study, this project is not limited to persons who are related biologically. Individual studies can be used to branch out the research into specific methods and areas of interest, such as geographically (England Penningtons), by time period (18th Century Penningtons), or by topic (Pennington DNA, Pennington Occupations, Pennington Statistics). These studies may also include a number of family branches which have no immediate link with each other. Some researchers may even be motivated to go beyond the profile identification and research stage to compile fully sourced, single-family histories of some of the families they discover through this name study project.

Hello, I'm researching William Marion Pennington (1874-1940), photographer from Durango, Colorado in the early 1900s. He is the brother of my g-grandmother Alice L Pennington (1861-BEF 1900). I have found many of his photos of landscapes and indigenous peoples of the Southwest, some of which are published in the book "Glass Plates and Wagon Ruts" by H. Jackson Clark. I'm interested to find any writings from him about his photographic work, or anything else published about him and his work.

If anyone has anything on him, I'd appreciate hearing about it. So far I have not found anything about him here on wikitree. Thanks, Jeannine Anderson

Hi, I am trying to find out who my great grandfather's (Elijah Daniel Nichols, 1877-1939) mother was. His father (Abner Jefferson Nichols, 1837-1909) was married to and had children with Caroline "Cass" Martha Pennington 1838-1934. However, she went into an asylum before E. Danny was born. The family story is his mother may have been an Elisabeth Bankston who supposedly died in 1879 in Colorado with twins but this does not fit the research we have been uncovering. Do any Penningtons from the Elias Green Pennington and Julie Ann Hood line have auDNA testing they would be willing to share? Caroline's sister was the Larcena Pennington Scott from Arizona who was captured by Indians and then escaped. Regards, Eleine Bishop Gordon
