Research Notes

Over a 50 year period, 1682 to 1732, Watertown records list the births of 4 different Susanna(h) Bemis. The first 2 were sisters, and the last 2 were the nieces of the first two.

Susannah Bemis-124 was born on December 24, 1682, in Watertown^[1]. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Harrington) Bemis. She married John Hastings on November 6, 1702, in Watertown^[2]. She died on November 15, 1703, in Watertown. She had no children.

Susannah Bemis-94, most probably named for her deceased sister, Susannah (Bemis-124), was born on December 3, 1705, in Watertown^[3]. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Harrington) Bemis. Susannah married Isaac Pierce on September 7, 1722, in Watertown^[4].

Susanna Bemis-206 was born on January 13, 1714, in Watertown^[5]. She was the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Peirce) Bemis. She married John Viles on July 2, 1731, in Watertown^[6]. They had 13 children. She died on November 28, 1785, in Watertown.

Susanna Bemis-204 was born on April 3, 1732, in Watertown^[7]. She was the daughter of John and Anna (Livermore) Bemis (NOTE: ma-vitalrecords.org index incorrectly lists Anna’s maiden name as Warren) .
