Snow Cemetery lies south of the Truro Congregational Church Cemetery and is situated east and southeast of Bridge Road, the cemetery is reached by following Parish Lane past the Congregational Church. The cemetery encompasses 3.58 acres, although boundaries appear poorly defined and difficult to trace, with much of the cemetery located in natural woods.
The earliest marked burial in the cemetery is that of Harriet Knowles, who died in 1817. However, documents in official Truro town history indicates the first burials were that of three children (Eveleen Amelia, Olive Frances, and Levi Thomas) of Capt. Levi (2nd) and Olive R. Stevens, all of whom died within two weeks of each other in October of 1849.
Snow Cemetery was originally named Stevens Cemetery, a family burying ground of the Stevens family. There are conflicting pieces of information as to when the Stevens family conveyed the cemetery to the Snow family, and specifically which family members were involved in the transaction. Eventually, the cemetery was opened up for public burials, and eventually was acquired by the Town of Truro.
