Historical Records

Rodrigo Soto, son of Francisco de Soto and Elvira Quixada, traveled to Nueva EspaƱa in 1510. He is listed in the Pasajeros a Indias Ballot #96, page 7. Go to Archives Portal Europe to view the Contract and other records. According to the Travel Contract, Rodrigo and his parents were vecinos de Sevilla

1900 United States Federal Census

The Duval County, Texas, Soto Name Study begins with the 1900 United States Federal Census and a Mr. Maximo Soto (~1840-1912) and his family.

Mr. Maximo Soto (~1840-1912) emigrated from Old Mexico circa 1892.

1910 United States Federal Census

By the time the 1910 United States Federal Census was enumerated for Karnes County, Texas, Maximo Soto (~1840-1912) and his family are living in or near Helena, Texas.

Maximo Soto (~1840-1912) died in 1912.

1920 United States Federal Census

As of 12 Nov. 2016, 1920 census records have not been found for the Soto family. Oddly, 1920 census records for the Karnes County, Texas, Guerra Name Study are also missing.
