- 4 Oct 2022 this LIST was started
- However, we had been researching veterans years before that date.....
- Griffin-9771 created 21 Mar 2018
- The goal of this project is to ...
- ADD the Free Space to ALL Veterans so we can know who and WHERE in the cemetery so we can honor them with flags............
- We started out with the Veterans Memorial Plaques which totaled 159 and it ended with the last death: 2015.
- Since then we 3 have added 34 Veterans to make a TOTAL: 193 as of November 12, 2023
and this year, 2023 with Wreaths Across America, by the Elbert County, Running Creek Chapter of DAR. Right now this project just has 3 members,
- me. I am Carole Taylor.
- Hyla Jenks
- 2nd Goal is to research, prove and order military headstones for 8 + Veterans,
- Dick Bentley's headstone has been received October 2023
- Grant D Bentley's headstone has been received Nov 9th 2023
- George McGeorge's will be submitted as soon as we get the 2 signatures required
- Evald Kihlmark's will be submitted as soon as we get the 2 signatures required
Research Notes
- RAF Metfield, Suffix, England Llewellen Brumbaugh
Wreaths Across America
- We will get permission from the Elizabeth Colorado Cemetery Board to place the wreaths in December 16th and then pick them up the first week of January 2024
- When we get their permission we need to find Sponsor's/ or Fund Raisers to pay for all or some of the 183+ Veterans wreaths.
- Plan the EVENT and send out invitations.
- And there are other cemeteries in Elbert County.
- We received the Approval form from the Queen of Heaven Cemetery to Adopt 26 Veterans there to find Sponsors for them, yesterday, June 15th
- We received the Approval form from the Elizabeth Colorado Cemetery to Adopt 167 Veterans there to find Sponsors for them, June 19th
- We have emailed the program to them for their approval and how they can be involved. Waiting
Will you join me? Please post a comment here on this page, in G2G using the project tag, or send me a private message. Thanks!
