Wales Medieval Team (WMT)

The Wales Medieval Team (WMT) is made up of the Wales Project members dedicated to the management and improvement of profiles for persons of Wales who were born, lived, or died in Wales before 1500, and also certain members of the Medieval Project - England and Wales

Goals

  • One of the first tasks is for the Wales Medieval Team (WMT)' will be to adopt all pre-1500 Welsh Profiles, including those in the Cymru Project. Once this done we can start to retire the Cymru Project and its associated connections. The Euro-Aristocrat is also being retired.
  • The Team Leader will maintain a Google Sheet for all profiles. This will be updated once a month. [1]
  • To ensure that all pre-1500 Welsh profiles conform to the patronymic naming guidelines.
  • To establish a procedure so that new pre-1500 Welsh profiles are scanned, again to ensure conformity.
  • As many of these profiles were added more than a decade ago when guidelines were unavailable, the Team will scan the profiles to eliminate unrecognised sources.
  • The Profile Manager will be asked to provide recognised sources, or the profile will be tagged {{Unsourced}}. They will be given a full month to respond.
  • To agree with the Managed Profiles Team which profiles need to be included as managed profiles.
  • To encourage those interested in Medieval Profiles to get pre-1500 accredited.
  • If a patronymic line is included in a Biography, the antecedents should be linked to the profiles.

Agreed Sources

With these profiles from ancient times different sources show what can be conflicting information.
When this is the case a heading Conflicting Sources should be included below the Biography. An agreed list of acceptable Sources will be drawn up and included on this page. For example:
