In 1860, Carolina lived in Beaver township, Jefferson, Pennsylvania in the household of Peter Reitz.[2] They were married within the previous year. Peter's parents and siblings are the next house over.
In 1870, she lived in Beaver township, Jefferson, Pennsylvania with three children: Mary, 9; Sarah, 7; Emery, 3. Peter is listed in the household of William McKatz next door, but this is probably just a mistake by the enumerator.

In 1880, she lived in Beaver township, Jefferson, Pennsylvania in the household of Peter Reitz and the following children: Sarah, 16; Edwin A, 6; Manus, 2.

In 1900, the final US census before her death, she is listed as having 5 children living of 6 total and 40 years of marriage.[5]
She is listed as Caroline in the marriage certificate of her daughter Nina L.[6], her son M.W.[7], her son E.A. [8]
