John Harcourt and Davis bought land in Coleman, Texas, moved from Galveston to Coleman and started raising sheep Davis died after being injured in an accident with a runaway horse in Coleman. He died one hour after being injured. His body was sent back to Galveston, Texas Buried in Galveston at Magnolia Cemetery in March, 1883, and moved to Lakeview Cemetery August 26, 1896, off 61st street.
