Biography

Christina was born on 12 October 1870 in Markinch. She was the daughter of John Spittal and Isabella Braid. [1]

In 1871 Christina and her family live in the village of Markinch. In the house are John (35) Tailor, Isabella (35) Tailors Wife, James S Spittal (10), William Spittal (9), John Spittal (7), George Spittal (6), Thomas Spittal (3) and Christina Spittal (5 months). All were born in Markinch[2]

In 1881 the family live in Markinch. In the house are John (45) Master Tailor employing 1 man, Isabella (45) Formerly Domestic Servant, James (20) Tailor, John Spittal (17) Apprentice Painter, George (16) Papermakers Assistant, Thomas (13), Christina (10), Grace (4) and John Spittal senior's mother Christina (87) born Errol, Perthshine, formerly Dairy Maid.[3]

In 1891 the family live in School Brae Markinch. In the house are John Spittal (55) is a Master Tailor, Isabella B Spittal (55), Thomas Spittal (23) Journeyman Tailor and Christina T Spittal (20) Papermill Worker. [4]

On 1 June 1900 Christina married William Husband (1869-1925) in Markinch. She was age 29 and a Papermill Worker living at 13 School Street, Markinch. Her parents are John Spittal, Master Tailor and Isabella Spittal m.s. Braid. William was age 30 working as a Vanman and living on Bowbuts, Markinch. His father is John Husband, Carter and Christina Husband m.s. Cargill. The witnesses were Thomas Spittal and Christina Husband. [5]

Daughter Bella Thomson Husband was born in Markinch in 1900. Her mother's maiden name is recorded as Spittal. [6]

In 1901 Christina (30) lives in Mitchell Place, Markinch with her husband William Husband (31) a Bread Vanman born Kilmany, Fife and their daughter Bella T Husband (5 months). [7]

Daughter Christina Smith Cargill (Husband) Colville (1902-1944) was born in 1902 in Markinch. [8]

Son John Spittal Husband (1904-1968) was born in 1904 in Markinch. [9]

Daughter Grace Braid (Husband) Robertson (1906-1985) was born in 1906 in Markinch. [10]

She passed away in 1937 in Markinch age 66. [16]
