Newton Elmer Gish was born April 12, 1890 in Benton County, Missouri to Peter and Amanda.^[1]

The Peter and Amanda Gish family was living in Moreau, Moniteau, Missouri in 1900.^[2] At that time, Amanda was the mother of 10 children, 7 of whom were living in 1900.
