Biography

(James) Caleb Squibb was born January 14,1838 in Greene County, Tennessee, a son of James Caleb Squibb and Rachel Shields. In 1857, he married Elizabeth Ann Wallis, daughter of William and Matilda Wallis. James died in Springfield August 1861 at the young age of 23. He was buried at Squibb Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri. His widow married Abner Cotter December 16, 1863. She was buried in Caleb’s plot, the grave stone inscribed: “Elizabeth Cotter / Wife of Caleb”.
