Biography

John Stamper was the son of Joshua Stamper and Lavinia Clifton. His age is estimated by the two census records found in which he first appears in 1850 with his father and mother, then in 1860, with his wife, Elizabeth and two of their 3 children. These children, James H. Stamper and Polly A., along with a later born John L. Stamper, appeared in the home of their grandparents in 1870 presumably after the death of their parents.
