She was undoubtedly born on the family homestead, which was located in a place that changed jurisdictions during her lifetime. Slippery Rock Township was formed from Shenango Township in 1836, and Lawrence County included Slippery Rock Township when the county was formed in 1849. Slippery Rock Township, Lawrence County remains the current jurisdiction for the farm that was the original homestead, which her father bought in the mid-1820s.
