Sands Stanley 1812-1868 (per grave stone in Straley Cemetery, Adamsville, Texas), came to Lampasas County with his brother John, in April 1854 from Travis County. The families had lived in South Carolina, Tennessee, and Mississippi, and Sands had recently come from McNairy County, Tennessee.
Sands & his wife Nancy (b. 1814), settled near Simms Creek just west of present day Adamsville.
Sands signed the petition for the creation of Lampasas County and was a member of The Lampasas Guards. Sands and Nancy are believed to be buried near Sims Creek
