Joseph Starkey was born in 1860 [1] in Lower Walton, Cheshire, England, the son of Joseph Starkey and Rachael Maddock.[2]
In 1881 Joseph was living with his parents and 6 siblings in Bostock Street, Stockton Heath, Cheshire. His father was a joiner; Joseph was a tanner. [2]
On 21 July 1881, in St Paul's church, Warrington, Joseph, living at the time in Lovely Lane, married Mary Ann Gregson. Witnesses were William Nicholls and Hannah Daintith. [3] The couple had 9 children. [4]
In 1901, Joseph was living with his wife and 8 in Hughes Street, Latchford, Warrington. He was a tanner. [5]
In 1911, Joseph was living with his wife and 8 children in St Mary Street, Latchford, Warrington.[4]
