Biography

Sarah (Staton) Donahue was born in Appalachia, in Kentucky.

Sarah Catherine Staton was born on 15 August 1874 in Bath County, Kentucky, United States^[1], daughter of William B Staton and Sallie Ann Frazier.

In the 1880 census Sarrah (age 6) was the daughter of William Staton (age 59) and Sarrah A Staton (age 47) in Frenchburg, Menifee, Kentucky.^[2] Also in the household were siblings George L (age 22), Marry E (age 18), Charly (age 16), Rosabell (age 12), Isabell (age 12) and uncle John A Staton (age 20).

Sarah married Arlando Berry Donahue (aka Donahew) about 1885, likely in Bath County, Kentucky. They were parents of:

1. William H Donahue (1896-1922)
2. Sarah Lou (Donahue) Griffey (1900-1982)
3. Joseph Gilbert Donahue (1902-1923)

In the 1900 census Sarah (age 24), husband Berry Donohuy (age 30) and children William (age 4) & Sarah (age 1) were in Magisterial District 3 (Beaver Road), Menifee County, Kentucky.^[3] Also in the home were Sarah's parents. William Staton (age 75) and Sarah A Staton (age 67) and niece Effie Igo (age 8).

Sarah died (age 31) on 6 May 1906 and was buried in Staton Cemetery tract 4017-C near Beaver Creek, Menifee County and was later disinterred and buried in the Ginter Cemetery in Menifee County.^[4]
