Biography

Mary was born in 1847 in Chatham County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of Mack Stedman and Sarah Dowdy.

She married Richard Cern Gunter in about 1882 (they had a son in 1883) likely in Chatham County. No marriage record has been found.

She passed away in 1932 in Sanford, North Carolina, and was buried in Asbury Methodist Church Cemetery in Asbury, North Carolina.
