Biography

Ira was born about 1858, son of Deacon Hugh Steeves. Ira passed away in February 1880 at the age of 22 or 24.

The first newspaper announcement of his death[1] inadvertently used the name of his younger brother Amos. Amos lived for many more years, married and had children.

In April, another announcement appeared, with much less identifying information, seemingly to correct the name[2].
