This is the death notice for Maria (Stein) Littlejohn: "LITTLEJOHN-.— On the- 25th December, at her residence, 82 Victoria-street, West Brunswick, Maria, relict of the late John Littlejohn, and beloved mother of James, John and George, David, Alfred and Henry Littlejohn, Maria Smith and Martha Ramadge, aged 79 rears. A colonist of 67 years."[1]
The Maria who married William Smith was born to Maria Stane (before Maria Stane's marriage to John Littlejohn) and George Evans on 5 Nov 1842 in Richmond.[2]
She was baptised at St Peter’s Catholic Church on 9 January 1843 and the certificate was numbered 36705 (Genealogical Society of Victoria).
She married William Smith in Victoria in 1862.[3]
Her death record (died Brunswick 1922 age 79) cites Robert Littlejohn as her father which is incorrect.[4]
"Maria Smith (Littlejohn) Born: 1843 Died: 1922 Cemetery Fawkner Memorial Park 1187 Sydney Road Fawkner, Moreland City, Victoria Australia".[5]
