Grietje Hessels Schumacher Stelwagen was born on July 21, 1831, in Schoterland, Friesland, Netherlands, the daughter of Hessel Douwe Durks Stelwagen and Johanneske Hommes de Vries.[1]
She married Jan Bjintzes Hylkema, the son of Bjintze Hylkes Hylkema and Geeske Wisses Luxwolda, on May 9, 1856, in Opsterland, Friesland, Netherlands.[2]
