Hi Robert, if your family is not here you can enter your own branches if you choose. There is no obligation to do so, or to work at a greater pace than you choose. Please take as much time as you need looking around. Different members use Wikitree in different ways, but its greatest strength is that entered profiles are very findable in internet searches, so if someone else is researching the same line from a different angle, they might find you and get in touch. There are also many members with expertise in a particular time frame or subject who are willing to help.
Hi Robert, Thank you for volunteering to help grow our World Wide Family Tree.
You are now a member of the WikiTree Community. Please note we are trying to build one Collaborative Tree which means one profile per person. It is important to ensure no duplicates are entered as you add any Profiles to WikiTree.
Everything on WikiTree is a collaborative work in progress so dont forget to read and sign our Honor Code. This is what keeps WikiTree a friendly and helpful community. We have many friendly members, feel free to ask if you have any questions.
All my ancestors lived in southern Germany, except for a branch in northern France. Their entries into the USA mostly predated Ellis Island. I was born in the USA in 1946. At this moment I am finding this wikitree site to be confusing. Hopefully, that will change. Years ago, I healed from "hitting the brick-wall." I do not actively search anymore. As it appears, now, I will never find out answers to: 1) where was the shipwreck; 2) what happened to the woman he married in Germany; and 3) who adopted the boy? When I figure out how to contribute to this project I will try. I don't see a tree - especially one needing my information. Am I suppose to plant a new one? BTW, as best I can, I use the germanic pronunciation of my family name. I know all Steuers don't take on that burden.
A few employees and a whole lot of volunteers are working together to create a FREE global family tree with only one profile per person. If you'd like to help us by adding your family branches or help to grow the tree in some other way, please select the volunteer button and leave a statement informing us of your interest in our project.
