George was born in 1815. His parents were John and Eliza Stevenson. He was christened on 11 October 1815 at Kenton, Devon. [1]
George married Anna Maria Denham Cookes, daughter of Charles Burnell Cookes, on 14 February 1842 at Saint James The Apostle Church, Dover, Kent.[2]
In 1851 George and his wife Anna Maria lived at Hawkhurst, Kent. Their children i were Anna, (6), George (5), Marianne (4), Florence (3), and Montagu (2) and Caroline (0). The birth places of family members show that they had lived mainly in in the south west of England, but that 3 year old Florence, had been born in Italy, and their youngest child, Caroline in Kent. The family also had a visitor when the census was taken. She was Marie Rufenacht (27) who had been born in Italy. The family had four servants, Sarah Durward, Elizabeth Durward, Frances Selby and Ellen Butcher. [3]
In 1881 George and Anna Maria and their son Montague C T, Stevenson, a Wine Merchant, lived at 20, Elm Park Gardens, Chelsea, London their daughter Caroline and her husband George and their three children, George (4), Violet (3) and Arthur (0). The family's four servants were Elizabeth Johnston (Domestic Servant and Nurse), Annie Johnstone (Domestic Servant and Nurse), Rhoda Clement (Cook) and Jane Fielder (Housemaid).[4]
George passed away in 1808, age 91.[5]
