The 1850 Census is needed but the couple are listed together on the 1860 Census[3] in Amherst County, Virginia with eight children listed in their household (note that some dates are estimates from census records and more research is needed):
John Roberts Stinnett (1836–1924)
William Henry Stinnett (1841–1904)
Paulus (Paul) P. Stinnett (1842–1915)
Mary Frances Stinnett (1845–Deceased)
Silas Whitehead Stinnett (1848–1938)
Daniel T. Stinnett (1851–1918)
Zachariah T. Stinnett (1852–1907)
David Barker Stinnett (1855–1940)
It is believed that his wife passed away in 1862. He is listed as widowed in the home of his daughter Mary Frances (Fannie) on the 1880 Census.[4] His will was written on August 3, 1886 and probated on April 15, 1895, indicating that he likely passed away in 1895.
