Taliaferro was born about 1811. He married Mary "Polly" Burley in December of 1833 in Amherst County, Virginia:

  3. Paulus (Paul) P. Stinnett (1842–1915)
  4. Mary Frances Stinnett (1845–Deceased)
  5. Silas Whitehead Stinnett (1848–1938)
  6. Daniel T. Stinnett (1851–1918)
  7. Zachariah T. Stinnett (1852–1907)
  8. David Barker Stinnett (1855–1940)

It is believed that his wife passed away in 1862. He is listed as widowed in the home of his daughter Mary Frances (Fannie) on the 1880 Census.[4] His will was written on August 3, 1886 and probated on April 15, 1895, indicating that he likely passed away in 1895.
