Abraham was born in Groton and was in Westminster for a time and was “warned out” of Westminster in 1765.[7] He apparently stayed, as his oldest child was born there, and he was a member of the Westminster Minute Men company. The family moved to Wendell in 1776. Abraham served as constable and collector of taxes for the town of Wendell.[8]
On 14 August 1832, Abraham Stone of Wendell aged eighty-four provided a statement related to his application for pension. He was a member of Capt. Noah Miles’s company of Minute Men at Westminster and marched to Cambridge on 20 April 1775. On 1 May 1776, he enlisted and served as corporal in the company of Capt. Edmund Bemis in the regiment of Col. Asa Whitcomb’s Whitcomb-389 regiment for a term of eight months. He was stationed at Prospect Hill until his discharge. In June 1776, he moved to Wendell where he resided ever since. When the militia was called out in October 1777, he went with Lieut. Osgood and joined the company of Capt. Gunn stationed at Fort Edward. Abraham was present at the surrender of Burgoyne. Abraham received a pension based on his service.[9]
On 6 May 1800, Abraham Stone, yeoman of Wendell, sold to Moses Stone, yeoman of Wendell, for $350 a parcel in Wendell which was the North part of lot thirty containing fifty-eight acres. On 9 April 1804, Abraham conveyed an additional seventy-four acres to Moses for payment of three hundred dollars.[10]
