He lived in Darlington in 1921[2]
and Saltburn in 1939.[3]
He served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer reserve in the Second World War.
He died when his aircraft was involved in a bombing raid on Essen on the night of 25/26 June 1942 and is buried in Terschelling (West-Terschelling) General Cemetery[4][5]
and commemorated on the
St Mark's Darlington War Memorial
