Biography
John M Stout was born in 1838 in Tennessee, the son of Godfrey Daniel Stout and Mary Vaught.
He died on 10 Nov 1864.
"Forgotten Soldiers: 4th Tennessee Volunteer Infantry Regiment (USA) 1863-1865;" by Eddie M. Nikazy, Heritage Books, Inc. 1995; pp.137. Stout, John M.: private, Company B; age 23; enrolled at Taylorsville, 1 Apr 1863; mustered in at Loudon, 7 May 1864; died at Kingston, 20 Sep 1864; letter in file (report of board of officers, 11 Sep 1864), "he was shot by Sergeant Powell Renner at Esquire Sevier's, near Kingston, on Sep 10 at 10 o'clock at night while stealing from a sweet potato patch."
