Obituary from North Pacific Union Gleaner[4]

Stover.—Andrew Jackson Stover was born December 14, 1835, in Montgomery County, Indiana. He passed away at his home in Ridgefield, Washington, at 10 o'clock, January 7, 1929, aged 93 years, 23 days. Mr. Stover moved from Indiana to Iowa in 1856 and remained there until 1892 when he moved to Oregon, where he lived for several years. In the past 37 years he has traveled quite extensively in Oregon and Washington doing missionary work. During the last few years he has made his home at Ridgefield. He was granted a license to preach by the Seventh-day Adventists in 1876. He built two churches in Oregon, one at Grants Pass and the other at Ashland. He has organized eight churches, one at Cascade Locks, White Salmon, Sara, The Dalles, Ridgefield, Cedar Creek, Meadow Glade, and Batchelor's Island. Mr. Stover worked hard all his life at carpentering and preaching the gospel. In passing he leaves an enviable record as a conscientious Christian and minister of the gospel. He leaves to mourn his wife, Mrs. Sarah Stover; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Logan of Falls City, Oregon; three sons, Moses E. of Orlando, Florida; Lewis of Clinton, Wash.; Charles of Randal, Wash.; and one brother, Gilbert of Parsons, Kansas; one step-sister, Mrs. James Santee of Vancouver, and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted by the writer, assisted by Elder L. Esteb and the conference quartet. The many friends from the community attending the service testified to Elder Stover's standing among them as a friend and citizen.
