Peter Malden Studd was born on 15 Sep 1916 in Dublin, Ireland; he was the son of Brigadier Malden Augustus Studd, DSO, MC, and his wife Netta Elizabeth Laura Cramsie. ^[1]

He was educated at Harrow and Clare College, Cambridge (MA). He was Captain of cricket at Harrow and Cambridge.

He married Angela Mary Garnier, widow of Maj. Cyril Penn Hamilton, on 3 May 1943 in King's Chapel, St. John the Baptist, Savoy, Westminster, Middlesex, England. ^[2]
