John Swadling was born about 1840. He was the son of John Swadling and Mary. [1]
He was a farrier and had a shop in Castlereagh Street, Sydney. [2][3]
John appears to have had four, or possibly five children with Elizabeth Ireland. An affiliation case was brought in relation to his child John Walter Swadling Ireland in 1873. [4]
There is no evidence that John and Elizabeth married.
He died in 1897 at Manly, New South Wales, aged 57. [1][3][5][6]

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
There are 5 children list in the NSW BDM's with Elizabeth IRELAND as mother but no father's name given. John Walter also has a christian name, Swadling, but none of the others have. So there is no guarantee they are all John's.
I have removed SWADLING as the surname of Elizabeth's children.
Hi Lindsay, I removed the marriage link betwen Elizabeth Ireland and John as it seems most appropriate. What do you think? I've added a research note about their relationship. Feel free to amend.
I have removed SWADLING as the surname of Elizabeth's children.
