Biography

William was born about 1830 to James Gillespie Swann ^[1] and Martha Patterson Gill ^[2] who was only 10 at the time. William was born in Wilson county Tennessee like his father before him. He was one of four children and the oldest of three boys. He married Harriet L. Norris, in 1858 ^[3] and they had six children, all boys. He live in Wilson TN ^[4], Nashville, TN ^[5] Chewalla, Marshall, MS, ^{[6] [7]} Craighead, Lake City, AR ^[8]and finally, Amarillo, TX, and Brownsfield where he died presumably while living with J.B. Swan who signed the death certificate. He passed away 3 Mar 1922. ^[9]
