After her husband's death in 1799 she continued his publishing and typesetting business, as well as the local newspaper. They were the sole printer of Dutch banknotes from the first one in 1814 until the introduction of the euro in 1998.
Along with 5 other women she set of the fund "Zorgdragende Commissie voor behoeftige Kraamvrouwen" or Caring Committee for pregnant women, which assists pregnant women in need. This was done to prevent people from going into poverty as a result of the high costs surrounding the birth.[3]
