The 1881 census for North Perth, town of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, family 96/96 shows William Tarlin, 29 and a wool carder, b. US; wife Martha, 27, b England; Daughter Sarah Elizabeth, 10, b Ontario; daughter Mary Blanchard, 7, b Canada; William Henry, 5, b Ontario; and Frederick Wallace, 3, b Ontario.^[2]

He passed away 20 Oct 1929 in Palmerstown, Wellington, Ontario, Canada and is buried in the Palmerstown Cemetery.^[3]
