Martha was born about 1854. She reports on the 1881 census, Palmerstown, Wellington, Ontario, Canada, that she immigrated in 1863.[1]
She passed away in 2 Sep 1913 of Pernicious Anemia, and is buried in Palmerstown Cemetery, Palmerstown, Wellington, Ontario, Canada. Record gives her parents as Josheph Waterhouse (1825-1894) and Mary Newell(1828-1907). They, too, are buried at Palmerstown Cemetery. Mary's stone inscription reads "Headstone Description: Wife of William Tarlin died aged 59 Yrs. 11 Mos. 26 Ds.[2][3]
We find Joseph Waterhouse, 46, a spinner, b Eng., on the 1871 Census in Oxford South, Ontario, Canada. He has in the home wife Mary, 43, b England, son Thomas, 16, weaver, b. England; son Washington Waterhouse, 14, b. England; and daughter Fanny, 12, b. U.S.[4]
In 1891 they are still in Palmerston, Wellington, Ontario. Joseph, 66, a spinner -Wollen[sic] Mary, 63 b England; Larinda, daughter, 20, Wollen[sic] weaver, b USA; Skinkel, Wm. L. 49, b USA, carpenter. [5]
On Find-a-grave.com we find that Joseph Waterhouse, b 1825 and d. 8 Feb 1894. We see Mary in the home of daughter Martha and husband William Tarlin on 1901 census in Palmerton. Mary Newell Waterhouse was born on 6 Jan 1828 and died 29 Aug 1907 in Palmerston. They are buried in the Palmerston Cemetery, Palmerston, Wellington, Ontario, Canada.
