Albert was born in Chalk, Kent on 22 February 1911, his birth was registered in Strood in 1911, with a surname of both Taylor and Shovelar [1]
He appeared as Baby Taylor, on the 1911 census, living with his mother, older brother George and grandparents in Chalk, Kent:

He emigrated to Australia with his mother Ellen, leaving London on board the Australind on 28th February 1914. His older brother George was left with his grandparents in England, although he did join the family in Australia at a later date. [3] By this time Ellen was married to William Edward Bennett, and Albert adopted the Bennett surname.
The family were living at a Settlement property in Eastbrook, Pemberton in WA, in 1914.
From family oral history:
As an adult Albert worked as a "lumper" on Fremantle Wharf and William, his step-father probably worked in the maritime industry on the wharfs because at that time the industry was a "Closed Shop" and jobs were only available to family and union members.
Albert married Emily May Hughes.
He died in Perth, Western Australia on 14 March 1994.
