An Obituary in Western Star and Roma Advertiser dated June 26, 1933 reads:
MR. DAVID AUGUST TEYS. ..
The death occurred at Toowoomba on June 3 of David August Teys, at the age of 72 years. Mr. Teys was born in New South Wales, and after being employed as coach driver, came to Queensland 50 years ago. In this State be joined the famous firm of Cobb & Co., with whom he was employed as driver and horse buyer. He worked for the company at Georgetown, Herberton, Charleville, and St. George, and in other districts in the State. He was commonly known as "The Whip"[12]
